Invitation for Foreign Young Researchers (2nd Call) (completed)

As a part of the G-COE program"Education and research center for material innmovation", the Graduate School of Science and Engineering in Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) is to invite foreign young researchers from other countries who want to study in Tokyo Tech for few months.

 

  - Guidelines for applicants - 

 

1) Applicant Eligibility: 

  ・PhD course student

  ・Post doctoral young researcher

  ・Young faculty or researcher in University and/or Research Institution

   (All applicants are expected younger than 35 years old)

  Note: The following two institutions can also be the host for your request;

   (NIMS)( http://www.nims.go.jp/photocatalyst/ )

3) Duration for stayingin Tokyo Tech

  ・Maximum 3 months for PhD course students

  ・Maximum 2 months for other young researchers

 

  Note: Each stay should be completed earlier than the end of Feburary,

      2010

4) Application period

  August 17 through September 18, 2009. 

5) Terms of financial support

  ・A round-trip air ticket

  ・A monthly accomodation expense

  ・A monthly maintenance allowance (The amounts of allowance are

   calculated under the university rule, AIST or NIMS rule depending on

   the staying laboratory).

6) Materials to be submitted

  For PhD course student : 

   ① Explanation of own major research field(about 200 words) 

   ② Research/Study plan during staying in Tokyo Tech (about three pages

   including figure /table if necessary)  

   ③ Recommendation from applicant’s supervisor. The faculty in the host

   department in Tokyo Tech will contact with her/his supervisor about

   research plan prior for acceptance

   ④ Curriculum vitae (including the name of professor and/or department in

   Tokyo Tech when applicant has any specific professor with whom

   she/he wants to study in mind. If not, it is not necessary.)

  For Post doctor, young faculty and other researchers :

   ① Explanation of own major research field(about 200 words)

   ② Research/Study plan during staying in Tokyo Tech

   (about three pages including figure /table if necessary)

   ③ Short statement on the hope for pursuing research in Tokyo Tech.

   The faculty in the host department in Tokyo Tech will directly contact

   with an applicant to clarify the research contents for acceptance.

   ④ Curriculum vitae (indicate the name of professor and/or department in

   Tokyo Tech when applicant has any specific professor with whom

   she/he wants to study in mind. If not, it is not necessary.)

7) Selection Process

  After documentary screening for the application materials by the selection

  program committee of Tokyo Tech and/or the selection staffs in AIST or

  NIMS, the final result will be directly informed for each applicant within

  two weeks after the deadline.

8) Additional information

  The invited PhD students and/or young researchers are requested to submit

  about 10 pages activity report after completion their staying in Tokyo Tech.
